Had dinner on Friday at Matildas in Nambucca Heads. What a breath of fresh air. Finally a restaurant that offers more than battered fish and chips, chicken parma or rump steak. The selection of menu items is outstanding and obviously cooked by an excellent chef. From being greeted at the entrance to the service provided by the charming and well trained wait staff, we were blown away. The food was superb. Thank you for a lovely evening. In our experience, this is the best dining venue in NH.
The friendly service at Matilda’s was great; the staff were very friendly, polite, and helpful. The pizza was great, with a very unique flavour that tastes different to most other pizza places, but in a good way. The location is great, as it is right on the water, and the drinks were very cold and fresh!
Surely this is the best restaurant in the Nam? We loved it. Its a really nice outdoor space with white pebbles, overlooking the river and dogs around. We loved the food, we had the greens pizza, pumpkin gnocchi, oysters and croquettes. The girl serving us was so friendly. I will say, the margaritas we ordered were more like a margarita style spritz, but who cares: highly recommend.
If you’re looking for great food in Nambucca Heads, Matilda’s is a must-visit. Jane and the team genuinely loves hospitality, and it shows in every interaction. From the warm, friendly service to the delicious food and welcoming atmosphere, everything was exceptional.
Dinner tonight was just delicious. We had olives and house made bread as entrees, shared 3 pizzas and all agreed that it was the best ham and pineapple that we've ever eaten! The mushroom pizza was equally delicious. The chocolate and caramel tarts were also top notch. Really lovely service from all staff and relaxing, welcoming atmosphere.
W . O . W !!! My partner and I stopped here on New Year’s Day, travelling from QLD to Canberra and we are so glad we did!! The service was absolutely amazing from the moment we walked up to be seated. I can’t remember our waitresses name unfortunately but she was excellent, so attentive, cheerful and, all over it! The food was some of the best we had along our week long trip, extremely fresh and well priced. Unfortunately for us, we were justtttt too late to check out the little store next to the cafe, which also looked great. We have decided we will be back every single time we make the trip up to QLD from now on! (This time before the store closes!) Ps: we noticed multiple clueless and some rude customers throughout our experience and just want to say, your staff handle it so well, polite and professional!! Keep up the good work guys
Amazing food, might be one of the best we had during our trip in Australia. Our risotto stuffed squid was amazing and really fresh. Our pasta alla Vodka was perfect. As Europeans we felt like dining in Italy, that good was the pasta. Also the waiters were amazing, very nice, welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended!
Excellent fish and chips (one of the best, especially with that tartar sauce) and the Zesty Prawn Pizza (which is more like a tarte flambée) was incredibly delicious. The portions are very good, so you really go home feeling full. The restaurant is beautifully and comfortably furnished and, above all, has opening hours that allow you to enjoy a meal in the evening. An absolutely worthwhile stop on the East Coast route.
Matilda’s was a lovely little restaurant! The vibe and atmosphere was cosy. Charlotte was lively and all the staff very friendly. The food was delicious. We ordered x2 vodkas pastas, two pizzas ( one gluten free) and a gluten free blue swimmer crab spaghetti. All were fresh, delicious and tasty. Good vegetarian and vegan options and catered for gluten free/ celiac.
We spotted while walking and booked for 630pm. At 5 we wandered down rather than sitting in our room and they gladly looked after us. We had a long drawn out evening and the staff were perfect! They were attentive but let us space it out, food and drinks were all so tasty and the wine list is excellent! My partner is vegetarian and it’s so nice for her to have as much choice as me! I wish Matilda’s was closer to our place but it’s an excellent reason to visit Nambucca again! Highly recommend!
